The Yale Daily News

A daily news is a newspaper that contains news that is released every day. It is often a combination of various topics including politics, sports and business news. It also includes editorials and opinions on different aspects of life. It is often available in print and online.

The Yale Daily News (YDN) is a student newspaper published every weekday while the university is in session. It is the oldest college daily in the United States, and has been a vital source of news and discussion at Yale since 1878. Many of the paper’s students editors and writers have gone on to careers in journalism and public service, including William F. Buckley, Lan Samantha Chang, John Hersey, Joseph Lieberman, Sargent Shriver, Paul Steiger, Strobe Talbott, Calvin Trillin, and more.

Like other popular dailies, the Daily News found abundant subject matter in the scandals and social intrigue of the 1920s. It emphasized political wrongdoing, such as the Teapot Dome Scandal and the romance between Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII that led to the latter’s abdication. It also devoted considerable attention to photography, and was an early user of the Associated Press wirephoto service in the 1930s.

Its circulation peaked at more than 200,000 in the 1960s. It was generally regarded as one of the best American newspapers of its time. Circulation problems and rising expenses, however, eventually brought the newspaper down. In 1978 it was sold to cost-slashing hedge fund Alden Global Capital, which has been reorganizing the entire Tribune Publishing chain of newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune and New York Times.
