The Yale Daily News
As the nation’s oldest college daily newspaper, the Yale Daily News (YDN) has been financially and editorially independent since its founding on January 28, 1878. YDN publishes Monday through Friday during the academic year and serves the communities of Yale and New Haven. In addition to the daily paper, YDN also publishes WKND, its weekly supplement, and special issues celebrating Yale’s indigenous, black, Latina, and Asian American cultures in collaboration with their affiliated student groups.
The Yale Daily News Historical Archive is open to the public and provides access to digitized versions of printed issues of the YDN from its inception through 2021. The archive is maintained by the Yale University Library and reflects its commitment to supporting the work of journalists. In 2021, an anonymous Yale alumnus made a generous gift to help support the digitization of back issues from the YDN’s history and the ongoing maintenance and preservation of this important collection.
Whether it’s a big story, an exclusive or the latest in gossip and celebrity, Daily News award-winning writers and columnists deliver news from New York and beyond. You’ll find national and local headlines, New York exclusives, politics and the latest in Yankees, Mets and Giants baseball, too. No one covers the city like Daily News.
The YDN’s website is the best way to find the most current news. It’s the most popular source of information for students and alumni, as well as the general public. It features breaking news and videos, as well as live streams of many events. The YDN website also includes an extensive classifieds section, sports coverage, and opinion sections.
If it is impractical without extraordinary expense to make publication of any notice required by this Indenture in a Daily Newspaper, the trustees may determine an alternative method of publicizing such notice and notify the public thereof in such a manner as they shall deem appropriate. The YDN has traditionally held a centrist, conservative populist political position, but has also historically been a critical and investigative paper.
